Become an Association
When IAAH was established in 1987 its charter members stressed the importance of promoting adolescent health by encouraging meaningful youth participation, by encouraging multidisciplinary membership, and by maintaining a health (rather than purely medical) focus. To do this it was envisioned that there would be both individual and organizational memberships in the fledgling association but that as it matured and expanded there would be a great stress on becoming a network of national associations for adolescent health within a strong regional framework.

Since then, the Association has planned and held three highly successful international congresses in Montruex (1991), Vancouver (1995) and Salvador (Brazil, 2001). The Association has also been involved in a variety of regional conferences in Europe, South America, Oceania and Israel.

Purposes of this Manual

The number of National Associations are growing in 1997 there were 14. We are aware that there are more countries that would like to set up an association. This manual is designed to assist groups of people who would like to set up a national association.
